VOICES OF THE CITY — live theatrical improvisation on social topics with psychologist-presenter Elena Margot. The theater space became a place where we met, and where participants came — people of different ages and professions from different Russian cities. In the course of communication, participants went on stage and expressed their voice, expressed their opinions, voiced their feelings and experiences. This performance did not have a script, the participants did not need to "play", they voiced the voices that they found inside themselves. The task of the facilitator was to help the discussion flow by noticing both hot spots of polarization and points of mutual understanding.

We wanted to create a space for public dialogue. The project can also be considered as a mindfulness practice. After all, both psychology and theater have tools for living different voices, including powerful archetypal ones, as well as quiet and taboo ones. And they allow people to speak out conflicting points of view in a safe atmosphere, open up ways to a greater" feeling " of the diversity of life. The project is based on "World Work" - a psychological method of working with groups. However, the project is truly interdisciplinary. It also represents a dialogue between several contemporary art genres: immersive theater (where the audience is invited to participate or immersed in the theatrical process), happening, improvisation, documentaries, and talk shows.
We are grateful to all the participants who came to our project, who were interested and important to take part, and those who will still come. Many of the project participants were informal facilitators, and we welcome their feedback and assistance in the conversation that took place.
* The topics discussed can be emotionally complex. In each work, the group comes to a resolution and we hope that the group's experience can bring relief to the viewer as well. But if you are currently physically or emotionally in the midst of difficult events, you should postpone viewing this project. Please take care of yourself!

Facilitation (from the English facilitate — to help, facilitate, promote). Process-oriented conflict facilitation is used in small and large groups. The facilitator helps the group to understand the diversity of voices and experiences present in the group, to come to a consensus.
World Work is a term that is often used for process-oriented conflict management. One of its features is the use of a sensual background and "ghost roles", that is, unpopular, taboo voices. Any role is considered not only at the level of arguments, but also at the level of feelings. We live the experience of being from different angles, this experience expands our mind and heart, helps us to know the world and find our place in it.
The author of the approach is Arnold Mindell. Mindell, originally a physicist and Jungian analyst, has researched and written extensively about how awareness creates reality and how we perceive it on different levels. His ideas and methods stem from the discoveries of quantum physics, chaos theory, and symbolic thinking in Jungian psychology, as well as from ancient spiritual traditions such as Taoism and indigenous beliefs.
